SKARDU: A van with 15 passengers on board hit by a landslide at Tangoos area in Gilgit-Baltistan region, quoting rescue sources ARY News reported on Sunday.
Ill-fated passenger van was traveling from Rawalpindi to Skardu when the incident took place this morning, SSP Skardu Ishaq Hussain told mediamen.
Rescue teams and security personnel rushed to the scene and launched a relief operation to remove the rubble and retrieve passengers of the van trapped under the debris.
The rescue teams of Rescue 1122, Police and FWO have been engaged in rescue and relief operation, local officials said.
The incident took place at 3:00 AM, local sources said. The machinery to remove boulders has reached to the spot but no one yet retrieved from the debris.
At least 10 people have been killed in the incident, according to local sources.
According a news report, the bodies and injured people were being shifted to nearby hospital for medical assistance.
