Karachi weather remains pleasant with sporadic drizzle, 13.6mph gusts

KARACHI: As Karachi enters monsoon season, its weather on Friday remained cloudy with occasional and patchy drizzle and wind gusts of up to 22 km/h (13.6mph), ARY News reported.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has said the lowest weather for the city will be 27.5 degrees Celsius while the present weather is 29 degrees Celsius.

The highest city expects to warm up can be 32- to 34 degrees, the met department said.

With humidity at 78 per cent in the air, the gusts blow from the west and northwest in the city up to 22 km/h.

Parts of Karachi have received light showers in the wee hours today, including Gulzar e Hijri, Gulshan e Iqbal, M A Jinnah Road, and Saddar.

PMD issues glacial lake outburst alert for GB, Chitral

Separately, PMD warned, in a weather alert yesterday, of the Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) in the vulnerable areas of Gilgit Baltistan and Chitral regions.

A weather system is likely to prevail for next 1-2 weeks in Gilgit Baltistan and Chitral after persistent high temperatures having potential to produce Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) in the vulnerable areas of Gilgit Baltistan and Chitral, Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) said in its alert.

The weather office advised local communities to remain alert and asked concerned authorities to take precautionary measures to meet any emergency situation.
